HPV: A Patient’s Perspective

Nearly all cervical cancer is caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection, with just two HPV subtypes (#16 and 18) responsible for about 70% percent of all cases.  Cervical cancer continues to be a problem worldwide, despite the availability of screening tests and preventative vaccines.  Come hear from a cancer survivor who is working to raise awareness and educate women in order to reduce cervical cancer burden.

bazeChristine Baze has been actively involved in patient advocacy since being diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer at the age of 31.  She founded The Yellow Umbrella Organization with the goal of decreasing the burden of cervical cancer around the world by educating and empowering decision-makers (including patients) about prevention, advocacy, and working together.
