Biography: Ciprian Catana M.D., Ph.D. is the Director of Integrated MR-PET imaging at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor in Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California at Davis.

Research and Expertise: Dr. Catana has extensive experience in combining PET and MRI and is currently focusing on developing quantitative MR-PET for human use. Specifically, he has implemented methods for using the information obtained from one modality to improve the other technique. For example, he has developed the MR-based PET attenuation and motion correction methods that are currently used for studies performed on the integrated scanners in healthy volunteers and various patient populations.
