My Research project for the 2025-2026 Co-op Cycle researches the Epigenetic regulation of Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer. Prostate adenocarcinomas undergo a shift in genetic expression and lose the chemotherapeutic androgen receptor target, promoting higher mortality rates and increased metastases. Under the guidance of my research supervisor, I will conduct research pertaining to the MYC-L oncogene and its associated transcription factors to illustrate this process of genetic shift termed ‘lineage plasticity’. I will conduct this through Western blot
comparison and sequencing of genetic expression pertaining to the MYC-L oncogene. The results of this experimental study will provide clinical and comprehensive understanding of this advancement in malignant prostate cancer to its neuroendocrine form, which provides critical insight into chemotherapeutic agent development.
